Some words from Rob Body & Soul:

"As a Drum & Bass producer it seems you always have to aim to write that A-side tune that gets pulled out by every DJ at a rave at 1am; that big tune that everybody is talking about, the one that gets the instant rewind etc etc. To meet these expectations - quite logically - you as a producer stick to one certain sound, one certain structure. By 2013 we had grown really tired of that. To ensure we were still having fun writing music we thought: "OK, let's just let it go in the studio, we don't have to release every single piece we do, nobody even needs to get a glimpse at the random stuff that turns out when you leave all formulaic thinking aside. Let's just try out a few unusual things around the 170 BPM range." Turned out it was a lot of fun… After being bored in the studio for quite a while it really felt like a fresh new start for us. Our need to write Drum & Bass had a 'rebirth' so to speak.

From that point on things really started to flow and in a very short time we had laid down the basic concept for about 10 tunes. Suddenly we thought, "well, half of these will never become that big 'A-side' tune, but we actually liked these ideas the most.“ Clearly, this was the time to think seriously about putting out our first full length album, which we'd never even thought about even though we've been in this game for almost a decade now. Up until then we never really felt like we could draw a big enough picture musically but now it was the perfect time and circumstance.

The concept had become pretty clear. We would try to incorporate the organic vibe that we still love from the time we first began listening to Drum & Bass and blend it with the futuristic and more electronic sound of recent times. We wanted to reach out and touch as many DnB styles, draw in as many influences and finally finish long-awaited projects with Austria's No. 1 MC Daxta… The album project was perfect for all of that, and we're really pleased with Rebirth in its final form."
