After breaking through with the success of "When I Rock" in 1997 on legendary Mancunian Techno label Bush, he went on to release three albums and dozens of high-profile remixes. He has also written the soundtrack for a staging of „Hamlet“ at the Schauspielhaus in the former German capital of Bonn.
Four of his single releases have entered the German Top 100 with „Schall“ being his biggest commercial hit, making it into the top 20 in 2001. Before embarking on his solo career, Thomas Schumacher was a key figure in establishing the rave scene in his native city of Bremen in the early 90s. He founded his first label, Spiel-Zeug Schallplatten in 1998, which went on to release music from acts like Umek, Adam Beyer, Stephan Bodzin, and Deetron to name but a few.
He has also released material as „Elektrochemie“ (together with singer Caitlin Devlin and Stephan Bodzin) on Get Physical Music. Thomas Schumacher hosts a monthly radio show „My Electric Ballroom“ which is named after his new label „Electric Ballroom“. Once again Thomas takes a unique approach when programming his 60 minute episodes, taking on the role of storyteller and enriching the music with his personal views and first hand knowledge.
In April 2013 Thomas Schumacher released his seventh studio album STAND UP on Electric Ballroom which premiered at WOMB in Tokyo and kicked off a massive DJ tour . The follow up to critically acclaimed predeccessor „Home“ the album showcases Thomas Schumacher's compelling, unique and eclectic approach to Music. STAND UP is an in-depth journey into the musical world of a recording artist with a career spanning over 20 years. Thomas Schumacher once more imparts his knack for peaktime Techno and House as well as his ability to build deep and rich textures combined with infectious grooves and vocals.
Thomas Schumacher kicked off 2014 with a bang by releasing a special version of his classic "Schall" - this time called "Hush". Remixed by no one less than Polish House duo Catz 'N Dogz, "Hush" became Thomas' biggest hit on Beatport so far, spending more than a month on top of the Tech House chart and making it into the overall Top 3. "Hush" also went on to top the Trackitdown chart as well as being voted No. 4 on the Resident Advisor DJ chart.
Next up is Thomas' 6th single release on his own Electric Ballroom imprint. "I'll Do You" is yet another cooperation with his partner in crime Caitlin. The track pays homage to mid-90’s Drum n Bass/Jungle licked into present day relevance by Thomas Schumacher and his cohort. Inspired by a London-Berlin axis where Dub Step, House and Techno intertwine I’LL DO YOU exposes how these dark brothers of Electronic Dance Music spawn
