# Artist-Info:
Woo York are techno's men on the mission. Since the start of their career back in 2009, the Kiev-based duo has come a long way from being Ukraine capital’s local heroes to becoming an internationally recognized live act with their own signature sound. And it is right now when they’re making a step forward by constantly widening their audience globally.
2012 was the year Woo York became integral members of international techno community, releasing a set of strong EPs on legendary Glaswegian label Soma Records and Planet Rhythm, a veteran techno platform they ended up managing and curating for a few years afterwards. Woo York's sound wasn't just plain four-to-the-floor techno, it was the melodic side of their music that has made them the act you had occasionally come across with during recent years.
Arguably the biggest milestone in Woo York's career so far is their appearance on Life And Death in early 2015. Since their debut EP 'The Valley Of Songs' hit the stores, the duo has become closely associated with the globally renowned label rub by Tale Of Us and - naturally - has taken part in a number of Life And Death showcases around the world, including but not limited to gigs in Dubai, Barcelona, Offenbach's Robert Johnson, Sonus Festival, ADE, Ibiza's DC-10 et al. Not to mention their already impressive gig portfolio consisting of shows at Berghain, Tresor, Corsica Studios, Razzmatazz and other major venues all across Europe.
Performance-wise Woo York are known for their live set first and foremost. Either dancefloor-oriented or experimental, it represents a highly improvisational piece of music with strong hardware background. On the other hand, you just can’t pigeonhole it into either surface alone: Woo York bring the energy associated with techno to the very ‘leftfield’ shows and effortlessly incorporate avant garde elements into club setting. Diversity is the key.
