_about Andy
Born in Romania, Andy Catana moved to Austria at the age of 5, where he grew up in a small town called Wels. However, he has never forgotten his Romanian roots, which can be seen in his passion for the scene there. For over 10 years Andy now has been expanding his own unique style as a DJ. His first steps towards the electronic music where done when he started playing deep house in a small bar in his hometown, when he was just seventeen. In 2005 he decided to move to Vienna for studying business management. At the same time he has always been focusing on his DJ career. So two years later he finally attracted the attention from the local scene, after getting a residency at the MNML Club , which took place weekly in one of the oldest underground clubs in Vienna, Camera. In 2008 Andy founded the label Do Easy Records together with a good friend and DJ colleague, where he still operates as the leading head. The independent and respected Austrian label booms and shows that you do not have to cross borders, to listen to good music. The label also hosts an own floor at the unique Life Ball in Vienna. After releasing his first track Ironia on Do Easy Records in 2009, which has been making serious waves in the scene, international bookings in Ibiza, Romania, Germany, Italy or Switzerland quickly followed where Andy Catana supported names like Ricardo Villalobos, Luciano, Raresh or Radioslave. Andy is known for his deep and dubby house sound, which is uplifting to a seductive techno during his creative and danceable sets – whether he is headlining at a popular nightclub or playing a set for an underground event. His musical influence shows a wide variety and ranges from Kevin Yost and Jan Krueger to Ricardo Villalobos and Baby Ford. Influenced by these various artists, his sound has always something special.
